Hey Riot Grrrls!

Damn, it’s been a busy month. Nicolette and I have been busy with graduations, World Cup, traveling (not for pleasure), and dealing with our adult children, we both have been spread pretty thin. But around our busy schedules, we have been making great progress on the Riot Grrrl the Anti-Musical script and the first draft is pretty much finished. Yay!

THE MUSICAL

Now that the script is written, we need to do edits and read throughs so we can get the story just right, that way we can do a 29-hour reading before the end of the year. What is a 29-hour reading, do you ask? Well, it’s a highly regulated stripped-down developmental presentation of a play or musical, where we will test the script for an invited audience without the expense of full production contracts. This means a trip to NYC for me! (Nicolette too, but she goes there every other weekend pretty much, so it’s like her second home.)

So… super exciting!!

THE ZINE

As I mentioned in the last blog post, we are wanting to make the next issue of Breaking The Grrrl a survivor issue, so we are looking for survivor stories. If you have a survivor story you want to share with our readers, you will be able to do it anonymously. Since these stories can be hard for some people to tell, we have decided to make it easy for you by creating a survivor submission form, which is essentially a questionnaire where you can answer questions rather than write an essay. If you don’t feel like telling your story in the form of an essay or by questionnaire, perhaps you will consider a riot postcard instead, like the one below.

Depending on how many submissions and/or questionnaires we get, we wanted to dedicate a page in the zine to the Names Project, which will be a list of the first names of your abuser(s), a subtle call-out, if you will. If you choose to participate in this project, please don’t include last names, locations, or any identifying details of the person–just the first name(s). We understand your rage and need to call these fuckers out, but unfortunately, we can’t print the other details. You know, legal reasons.

If you don’t want to participate in the survivor issue, that’s cool too. We are still accepting regular submissions. Send all your female rage to riotgrrrlthemusical@gmail.com.

That’s all for now. Have a fun weekend and keep on rioting!
