Guidelines

  1. The zine’s pages are letter-sized (8 1/2 x 11 inches), so any artwork or photography submitted should fit on a letter-sized page.
  2. Essays should be 500-1000 words.
  3. Short stories should be no longer than 10,000 words, and will likely be split up over multiple issues.
  4. Submissions should be based on anything grrrl/woman related. This includes things that have happened to you personally, things you have dealt with personally, women’s health, women’s issues, etc., and can involve any topic — examples above — no matter how dark. Chances are, you aren’t the only one who has gone through it, and your words might help someone else.
  5. Opinion pieces on hot topics and political topics are acceptable and encouraged, however, they should be well-researched, well thought out, and factual. In other words, don’t just list a bunch of talking points as your reasons for being for or against something. And if you do give a personal opinion, provide clarification that it is your opinion.
  6. We realize women’s issues and punk ideologies typically fall on the left (liberal) side of the spectrum, but in an effort to be open-minded and fair, we want to hear from both sides of the spectrum, if possible.
  7. Keep in mind, that while we are here to raise hell and bring awareness to all kinds of women’s issues, we do reserve the right to not publish a submission for any reason. Typically, those reasons would be along the lines of something being highly offensive, too insensitive, completely tone deaf, or divisive.
  8. Note: there is no monetary compensation for entries, but you will get full credit for your work, and a featured shout out + social promo. The idea is for you to get your stuff seen–we are just the gallery that is showing it off for you. We are getting nothing out of this, other than content to fill our pages.
