sometimes the only way to be heard… is to make noise.

Set in 1992 at the height of the emerging Riot Grrrl movement, Riot Grrrl is a high-energy, bold new “anti-musical” about two young outsiders who refuse to stay silent in a world determined to keep them small.

Ryann, a defiant writer who has never fit into traditional expectations and is still searching for who they are and where they belong, channels their anger and isolation into the underground zine scene, documenting the realities girls face and building a voice on the page.

Harlow, a talented, black musician escaping an abusive home, walks away from the life she was expected to follow and rises through the male-dominated punk scene as the new front woman of the all-female band, Lipstick Riot. As the band gains momentum under the guidance of their ambitious manager, Evan, Harlow must navigate racism and the pressure to succeed in a scene that wasn’t built for her.

When London (Ryann’s sister) is assaulted, suspicion falls within their own circle, fracturing trust and forcing the group to confront the dangerous realities hiding inside the very community they helped create. As the search for the truth exposes a broader pattern of predatory behavior within their scene, what began as rebellion becomes something far more urgent.

As trauma, identity, and loyalty collide, Ryann, Harlow, and London must decide how who they are, what they stand for and how far they’re willing to go to speak the truth and what it will cost them to turn their voices into action.

Driven by a raw, contemporary punk score and inspired by the real Riot Grrrl movement, Riot Grrrl is a story of friendship, survival, and the moment personal anger becomes collective power.

Because sometimes the only way to be heard… is to make noise.
