The website is finally up!! Yay!!
Hello everyone, and welcome to the official Riot Grrrl The Anti-Musical blog, the place where you can find regular updates about anything and everything related to the Riot Grrrl The Anti-Musical project.
The Musical
Nicolette and I have been working on this project for a little over a year now — mostly brainstorming and fleshing out an outline — and we officially starting writing the script back in March of last year.

So far, it’s been a fun process. Especially when you take into consideration that we are both peri-menopausal women who are going through it right now, with the hot flashes, mood swings, memory loss, and all the other fun shit that comes with being middle-aged women. And if that wasn’t challenging enough, we both also have ADHD, so not only are we hormonally-challenged, we are focally-challenged as well. [Yeah, good times.]
Still, we manage to get together several times a month via Zoom to shoot the shit and work on the script. We will also be planning a few weekends where we are going to get together in person to go on a writing binge.
We created the website not only for informational purposes, but also so our readers, subscribers, and those who are excited about the project can follow us on this journey, and get to know Nicolette and I. We will keep you updated with a weekly blog post, social media updates, and a quarterly zine, which will include submissions from our fans, readers, and subscribers.

The Zine
Since this is a Riot Grrrl project, of course we had to create a zine. Only, instead of distributing photocopied pages that were carefully created with a typewriter and magazine cutouts, we are going to be using a laptop and Canva. Don’t worry, it’ll still be punk as fuck.
In order to keep it authentic, we are asking our readers, subscribers, and fans to submit their essays, poetry, book reviews, art, photographs, and anything grrrl related. We want it all!
Since it will be distributed quarterly, we will regularly give you due dates and reminders of due dates for your submissions. Just be sure to check out the zine page for submission guidelines, and then email your submissions to: riotgrrrlthemuscial@gmail.com.
Grrrl Stuff
While this project is about the upcoming Riot Grrrl musical, it’s also grrrls, feminism, women’s rights, women’s health, and anything grrrl/woman related.
It’s difficult to support women’s rights and not make them political, because whether we like it or not, they are political, and those who support women’s rights tend to lean toward the left of the political spectrum. Nicolette and I will do our best to keep political topics in the center of the spectrum and provide you with facts rather than talking points. Occasionally, you will see my left-leaning beliefs reflected in my blog posts and zine articles, but I will do my best to keep it to a minimum or in good fun, and welcome feedback in the comments, as long as it stays civilized and mature. We encourage conversation about important topics.
We all come from different walks of life, and deal with a variety of different issues from our mental health, our bodies, and our experiences out in the world. Therefore, Nicolette and I strive to make this website and it’s accompanying zine a safe place for all women — regardless of your background, mental illnesses, ideologies, spiritual beliefs, sexual preferences, etc. We are all about women supporting women, and all are welcome here… Even those who have a Y chromosome.
So, there it is… our first blog post. Until next time…
